Lift and Rise Armchairs

Lift and rise armchairs are becoming more and more sort after, and a large selection are now available on the web, and in the high street. For those of you who are not familiar with lift and tilt style chairs they were designed for the elderly, and those with disabilities, who are less physically able. The first designs were used by physicians for patients who had difficulty getting in and out of chairs. Wether the patients condition was permanent or not, when physiotherapy was needed as part of the treatment process a normal seating position would be a problem for the patient. Doctors and nurses agreed that a raised seat would be much easier for the patient to sit in, and would reduce risk of any further damage to their condition.

The chair runs on an electric motor, that raises the seat cushion to be situated at an almost standing position. With a bend of the knees, (depending on your height) your backside will touch the seat. A remote control is provided with two functions, Up & Down. When standing you simply push the Down button and the seat will begin its decent, until it reaches a standard seating position. When you want to get out of the chair, push the Up button and the chair will raise you up to a near standing position.

Over the last few years factories have added a reclining action to the chairs. This design have proven popular among able bodied consumers, as the chairs are very comfortable. Since the design has been commercialised, and become more available, the popularity has expanded. This has also created better value for money, which helps the people who really need them.

With the chairs being readily available, it has started discussions between those in the medical world to suggest, by using these types of chairs before a patients condition gets to a critical stage can help deter the symptoms. This has not been proven, but it will definitely make the consumer more comfortable, when sitting down, and getting out of the chair.

The chairs are available in fabric, and Pu. Fabric is the better seller of the two, as it is soft to touch, and is more comfortable for those who are sitting down for long periods of time. With pensioners being the target audience for these chairs fabric will always be more popular with the older generations. Sales in pu have increased over the last few years due to the reclining mechanisms being added. If you are interested in buying a lift and tilt chair, most furniture shops will have a variety on the floor, and many websites are selling them onion.
